On March 31st Her Campus took to Instagram to announce a Prom event taking place in the Crowne Plaza at Dublin Airport, backed by 20 other clubs and societies. Some of those involved include Dance, Karting, Drama, Glee and Style.
The event will take place on the 9th April from 7:30PM to 2AM.
Guests attending the prom can expect a dressed-up formal – but fun – atmosphere with club and society awards, a DJ, professional photographers, a memory wall and a montage from the last year.
Her Campus chairperson Nikka Campbell said, “I really wanted to create an event that feels exciting, memorable, and different from the usual student nights out.
“[The Prom] is designed to be a really special end of year celebration for students across different clubs and societies”. For the many graduating this year, Campbell says the Prom is a chance to “bring everyone together for one last night”.
The coalescence of the various clubs and societies evidently came naturally as she says that “Everyone has been very open to collaborating and helping make the event happen”.
She says the Prom promotes a sense of community within DCU’s clubs and societies and “shows how much students value opportunities to come together outside of their own individual groups”.
The work and dedication of 20 of DCU’s most prominent clubs and societies will be highlighted and celebrated. There’s also a pair of thrones to be filled as a Prom King and Queen will be voted for and elected on the night.
While it must’ve been a hefty amount of work, Nikka Campbell is clearly proud of this Prom and what it represents. “It’s so nice that we all are so passionate about our members and community, to [be able to] come together and organise a prom”.
This event will allow new students to socialise and meet new people, especially outside of their own club/society, or even if they don’t have a club/society they’ve been able to connect with yet.
The Prom will also be a great send-off to the graduating members of DCU, a celebration of their contributions to their community, and the college as a whole.
Tickets are on sale now until tomorrow Sunday, the 5th of April, for €38 per person. Included with the ticket is a 2-course meal (with options for vegetarians).
