Presidential Candidate Peter Lawlor has vowed to “tear down” the image of Che Guevara in the U building if he is elected next week, calling the Cuban revolutionary a “murderer”.
Days after stating that he would provide DCU students with a leader open to all sides of the political and cultural coin, Lawlor has vowed to “burn the rot” once again, this time aiming the fire at a particular target.
“We can’t let the campus be run by an echo chamber of marxists,” the candidate remarked.
Che Guevara played a key role in overthrowing the US-backed Batista regime in Cuba in January, 1959, a revolution that Guevara defined at the First Latin American Congress in 1960 as Marxist.
Expanding on his campaign announcements today, Peter told The Bulletin that “the far left wing has stifled debate into an echo chamber, and no one can voice an alternative opinion without being silenced.”
